Carnival of Santa Cruz – Tenerife

The Carnival of Santa Cruz, Tenerife, is seen as the most known and popular internationally, right after the Carnival of Rio de Janeiro. For this reason the two cities also have become twin cities. A lot of people go out on the streets and tourism increases during this spectactle as much as in summer. In the year 1980 the Carnival in Tenerife was declared "Fiestas of National Tourist Interest of Spain" and in 2000 it became "Global Capital of Carnival." The next step would be to gain the title "World Heritage Site" which the festivals aspires at the moment. This title would bring the event international and permanent promotion.

The Carnival of Santa Cruz can be divided in two parts. On the one hand there is the offical part and on the other hand the street carnival. The offical part is composed of bands, musicians and groups of dressed up people. The inoffical part is formed of all kind of participants who go out on the streets, dressed up and dancing to the rhythms of the local musicians.

This year the official part begins on the 25th of January and end on the 26th of February. The Team of Hotel Rural Costa Salada wishes you a lot of fun enjoying the celebrations.

 
Benijo Beach – A little Paradise on the Island Tenerife

Benijo Beach is one of the most beautiful beaches one can find in Tenerife. It's located in the north of the Canary Island, within the nature reserve Anaga near to the Roques of Anaga. The sand is dark due to its vulcanic origin and due the strong streaming taking a bath can be quite dangerous.

Near to the beach there are some restaurants which provides typical food of the region and a small kiosk which tends to be open all day long, where you can buy sandwiches or drinks so that a perfect day is guaranteed.

Along the road there are more beaches which are similar to the Benijo Beach and all of them can be accessed by car. Although the access to Benijo Beach is more complicated it's worth going down to it. Furthermore, the beach is popular for people who like doing sports like surfing, while making use of the strong waves which can be found at this location.

Without a doubt the beach is a beautiful place for everyone who's looking for some relaxation far away from big cities and huge buildings. In order to get to Benijo Beach it's recommendable to go by car. Coming from Santa Cruz you have to go in direction San Andrés and coming from La Laguna you have to go through Los Mercedes until you arrive in Taganana, following the road until you arrive at Benijo Beach.
